How to Draw Your Curtain

Creating perfect and even pleats on your curtains is easier than you think. Follow these 4 simple steps for a flawless result!

Level 1: The Preparation

  • Lay the curtain on a clean, flat surface (e.g. on a large table or bed) with the pleat facing you.
  • Go to one end of the braid. Securely tie the ropes. making a tight knot. Caution: This step is critical! If you don't tie them, as you pull from the other side, the ropes will come out of the braid.

Level 2: The Sifting & the Creation of Pieta

  • Go to the opposite end (the untied side). Hold the end of the braid steady with one hand.
  • With the other hand, pull the ropes at the same time to gather the curtain into pleats.
  • Pull gently and gradually, pushing the fabric towards the tied side, until the curtain reaches the final width you desire (the width of your window).

💡 Extra Tip: Distribute the pleats evenly with your fingers along the entire length of the tresses, so that they are not gathered on just one side.

Level 3: Belaying the Ropes

  • After you have brought the curtain to the correct width, tie a temporary but firm knot in the excess ropes to "lock" the pleats.
  • Then, Roll the ropes into a ball. Don't cut them!

💡 Why don't we cut them?; If you need to wash the curtain or take it to the dry cleaners in the future, you will need to untie the ropes so that the fabric can be spread out and cleaned/ironed properly. Discretely hide the tangle behind the pleat, perhaps securing it with a small safety pin.

Level 4: Height Selection & Hanging

  • Now your curtain is ready to accept the hooks.
  • Notice the back side: The curtain tape (tresa) has three rows for inserting the hooks, this way you will be able to choose the desired height.

💡 How to choose:

  • If you want the curtain to hide the ceiling rail, place the hooks in the bottom or middle row.
  • If you have rings on a curtain rod and want them to be visible, use the top row.

The Final Result

Hang your curtain and "comb" the pleats with your hands from top to bottom to lay them nicely. Enjoy your renewed space!
